The anchovy fishing season ends with only 36% of the quota caught. The premature closure is due to the high presence of juveniles in the area.

The Peruvian second anchovy fishing season was concluded in the north-central region. One million tons of anchovy were caught, 35.98% of the assigned quota.

The measure was taken according to the Imarpe’s report that states that the oceanographic conditions will continue to keep the juvenile anchovy concentrated in the fishing area, increasing its catchability. The Imarpe recommends adopting relevant conservation measures for the conservation of anchovy juveniles, considering the end of the second fishing season.
