BioMar Australia will start full production of its new $56 million Tasmanian aquafeed mill by the middle of the year, according to local news. The company intends to start commissioning in early February with an official opening in April.

BioMar unveiled its plans to build a fish feed facility in Tasmania in December 2017. The facility is expected to produce up to 110,000 tons per year, create 55 full time jobs and an additional 30 jobs across the region through indirect support, operational, port services and logistical roles. Last year, David Whyte was appointed as managing director of the new plant.
