Lloyds Register was accepted as a third-party certification body (CB) to certify against the MarinTrust program. The MarinTrust team has started the Lloyds Register onboarding process and recently completed initial training. Further training is underway to ensure a robust and efficient interpretation of the MarinTrust Program, which currently certifies more than half of the world’s marine ingredient production.

In January, MarinTrust launched a tender for the addition of a new certification body to certify against the MarinTrust program. Applications were received and reviewed by an independent consultant before submitting recommendations to the MarinTrust Board of Directors in April. MarinTrust already works with SAI Global and SGS Peru, which are registered to conduct audits under the MarinTrust program.

“We are delighted that Lloyds Register will soon be able to conduct marine ingredient factory audits and fisheries assessments in relation to the MarinTrust program. Together with SAI Global and SGS Peru, Lloyds Register will contribute to the goal that MarinTrust has set to obtain 75% of the world's marine ingredients, certified, under evaluation or in the Improvement Program by 2025,” said Francisco Aldon, CEO of MarinTrust.
