László Váradi receives FEAP award for Excellence in European Aquaculture

Dr László Váradi has been awarded the 2015 FEAP Award for Excellence in European Aquaculture, following his nomination by the Hungarian Aquaculture Association and the Hungarian Fish Farmers Association.

Dr László Váradi has been awarded the 2015 Federation of European Aquaculture Producers\'(FEAP) Award for Excellence in European Aquaculture, following his nomination by the Hungarian Aquaculture Association and the Hungarian Fish Farmers Association.

László was recognised for dedicating his entire career to developing Hungarian aquaculture and freshwater pond farming, as well as for his strong involvement and cooperation with less developed countries.

He has been involved in aquaculture since 1974, both in R&D aimed at developing sustainable freshwater aquaculture systems and technologies in Hungary, and also on projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America, mainly as an expert for the FAO.

An active participant in numerous EU-funded research projects initiatives, contributing to the transfer of R&D results into practice in the field, László placed high importance on the development of collaboration between Eastern and Western European aquaculture institutions and organisations.

He set up the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Central and Eastern Europe (NACEE), is a past president of the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) and is currently president of the Hungarian Aquaculture Association and chief technical adviser to the Hungarian Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (HUNATiP).
