Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2016 a huge success

The Asian-Pacific Aquaculture (APA 2016) Conference and Exposition was held April 26-29, 2016, at the Grand City Convention Centre in Surabaya, Indonesia. In total, 719 abstracts with 465 oral presentations and 254 posters were presented at the event, which was attended by approximately 6,000 participants from 51 countries.

The Asian-Pacific Aquaculture (APA 2016) Conference and Exposition was held April 26-29, 2016, at the Grand City Convention Centre in Surabaya, Indonesia. In total, 719 abstracts with 465 oral presentations and 254 posters were presented at the event, which was attended by approximately 6,000 participants from 51 countries. The tradeshow featured elaborate booths displaying live fish and aquaculture products. The exhibition consisted of 241 booths from 22 countries.

The event included INDOAQUA and FITA, special Indonesian aquaculture meetings. The first meeting, INDOAQUA-FITA-APA 2016, began on 26 April 2016 and consisted of seminars, exhibitions, business meetings, consultation clinic on aquaculture, farm tour, and various competitions, such as coloring contest, karaoke contest, Aquascape, and stand-up comedy. In addition, Dharma Wanita of the Directorate General of Aquaculture in cooperation with the local government conducted training on the manufacturing of clay materials as well as training on aquaponic manufacturing.

Many foreign event participants expressed their enjoyment while participating in conference activities, particularly the tour of an organic tiger shrimp farm in Probolinggo. The President of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) expressed appreciation for the implementation of the Asian-Pacific Aquaculture (APA) Conference in 2016. It was mentioned that the APA 2016 is the biggest WAS event in Indonesia so far, and that some companies were even turned away due to limited space.
