Plans are well in hand for the World Aquaculture Society’s first Middle East & Central Asia Aquaculture conference and exhibition in Tehran from December 14 to 16, 2015.

The decision to hold MECAA 2015 in Tehran follows the rapid development of aquaculture in Iran, which is now practiced in most of the 25 provinces. Coastal aquaculture has recently been introduced for the production of marine products.

More than 500 delegates are expected to attend the conference, which will focus on “Tapping New Markets in Aquaculture,” such as marine fish, shrimp, sturgeon, trout and offshore mariculture.

The event is being hosted by the Iranian Fisheries Research Organization and will include the annual meeting of the Asian Pacific Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society, the International Shrimp Symposium 2015 and the Middle East Aquaculture Forum.

Four workshops will also be held at the event for cage culture, shrimp culture, trout and sturgeon.
