BernAqua and Ocialis join forces

Evialis, a leader in animal nutrition worldwide, has acquired 51% share capital of the larval feeds and larval products manufacturer, BernAqua.

The Evialis group comprises 57 industrial plants, operating in 15 countries, marketing products and services in more than 50 countries. In 2006, Evialis achieved a turnover of €637 million and  employed more than 3000 people. Evialis has a strong emphasis on expanding its activities internationally, investing in R&D and developing Ocialis, its specialized brand for aquaculture.

BernAqua was founded by Bernard Devresse, a well known specialist in larval nutrition, who has developed sales of his company worldwide and who has reached a leadership position  in Europe, in terms of volumes as well as technology.

BernAqua sees the move as a means to secure a long term future for the company, both financially and in terms of human resources. It will reduce the reliance of the company's activities on its founder's know-how and ensure a steady and significant investment in research and development.

Ocialis manufactures and markets aquafeeds in Europe, Asia and South America. The BernAqua acquisition will allow the company to expand its offerings from grow-out feeds to all aquaculture rearing stages and to develop on the strategic market of larval feeds.
