Large international project seeking a candidate at the postdoctoral level or beyond with a strong background in microbiology, analytical chemistry or bioengineering for a project examining recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), anaerobic digesters and hydroponics (HYP) units with the goal of better understanding conditions that will maximize beneficial transfers of microbes and their products among components of decoupled aquaponics systems.
The position is primarily research-focused (85-90% research), while also requiring someone with good interpersonal skills who is comfortable supervising others, interacting with a range of interdisciplinary researchers and leading new strategic research directions.The successful candidate will be working within a large international project involving experts from fields such as aquaculture, hydroponics, engineering and food science to examine integrated multi-species food production systems.
This project seeks a researcher who can act as motivated coordinator for a project on aquaponics and integrated agriculture. We are looking for a dynamic individual who will conduct research while also spending about 10-15% of their time leading an outreach program for a large funded international project involving several European laboratories, as well as industry partners and research collaborators in the USA, Australia and Brazil.
Have you completed a few postdocs, but are looking for a new challenges to diversify your management skills while still staying active in research? Interested in science communications? Do you want to get experience with video/scientific filmmaking? Able to travel?
Required skills involve demonstrated leadership and project management experience, and prior training in a relevant scientific field (e.g. aquaculture, agriculture, sustainable food production: other fields may be considered).
The position is 100% time for a minimum 1 year contract (renewable based on performance). As the project involves considerable travel, the candidate must willing to be mobile for longer periods; candidates without prior international experience will not be considered. Start date September 1, 2018. Salary €40,000 (approximately $50,000 USD after tax) with excellent benefits including health coverage, paid vacation and travel.
