ARBIOM, a French company that produces proteins from the transformation of forest and agricultural residues, raised €12 million as part of the investment program France Relance. The fundraising will allow the company to start the construction of its first facility in the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region with a production capacity of 10,000 tons of Sylpro per year in 2022. The facility is expected to be in operation in 2024.

This fundraising follows the success of the SYLFEED demonstration program, a 4-year program supported by BBI-JU1, which validated the scaling up of the production process and the performance of Sylpro® with customers and partners. Commercial trials with several feed manufacturers in aquaculture, pets and piglets are underway to confirm the product’s already demonstrated performance.

“This grant is excellent news for ARBIOM but also more broadly for the European food industry. At a time when 80% of proteins for animal feed in Europe are imported, it is crucial to develop new sustainable and local sources of proteins with high nutritional value to ensure the protein independence of France and Europe,” said Marc Chevrel, president of ARBIOM.
