Safflower-based immunostimulant for shrimp closer to market

In its 2005 Year-end operational and financial results, Calgary-based SemBioSys Genetics Inc. announced that it had initiated scale-up in Chile of its proprietary transgenic safflower-produced feed additive, ImmunoSphere.

The company is working collaboratively with Aqua Bounty Technologies Inc.  to develop and commercialize ImmunoSphere, which it plans to launch in 2007. SemBioSys says on its website that together with Aqua Bounty Technologies Inc., that they have confirmed in tank trials that ImmunoSphere used as a prophylactic, confers disease resistance to shrimp and that combined with increased feed efficiency, ImmunoSphere offers significantly improved production economics to shrimp producers.
