BMR Seafood has announced that it is the first company in India to be awarded the prestigious Aquaculture Steward Council Certification for its dedication to responsible farming methods.

\"We have always taken a multi-dimensional approach to our business, with our commitment to providing fresh, sustainable and great-tasting shrimp to our customers at the forefront of that,\" stated BMR Group Chairman Dr. B. Masthan Rao. \"So to be recognized by the industry standard certification organization is incredible.”

BMR Group has just undergone an expansion of its facilities. Its feed mill was recently completed and is on target to distribute 60,000 tons of premium quality feed to about 1200 farmers. The group has also installed a state-of-the-art laboratory onsite in order to provide its clients with immediate access to online microbiological tests for safety and quality.

The ASC is just the latest in a line of certifications, with the company already boasting a three star BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices) accreditation and an “A” grade within the British Retail Consortium (BRC). The company has also been awarded Best Hatchery in India 2014 from the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India and MPEDA.

Dr Rao added, “We work to the strictest quality control standards and look forward to complimenting this by raising our own brood stock on the property, further optimizing the sustainability of our operations.”
