USA - October 2010 catfish feed deliveries down 11 percent from last year      

Total catfish feed delivered in the United States during October was 35,765 tons, down 11 percent from October 2009 and down 57 percent from the previous month.  Foodsize catfish feed delivered totaled 33,567 tons, down 14 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.  Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 2,198 tons, up 62 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.

October feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 15,488 tons, down 13 percent from last year.  Mississippi accounted for 46 percent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to U.S. farmers.

The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in October and their comparison to the previous year were Alabama with 10,298 tons, down 29 percent; Arkansas with 3,132 tons, up 7 percent; and Louisiana with 136 tons, up 17 percent.
