The Aqua Nor jury has selected Benchmark Animal Health as the winner of the 2019 Innovation Award. Their technology for water cleaning treatment after delousing, Clean Treat, won after sharp competition from other applicants and finalists.

The company has developed a water purification system for the Aquaculture industry to prevent medicines entering the sea. CleanTreat® is currently deployed in Norway, working alongside wellboats to remove medicines from sea lice bath treatment water. There is an opportunity for the system to be used alongside treatments for many other diseases and parasitic infections. To date, the CleanTreat® system has processed more than 300,000 m3 of treatment water.

Benchmark’s Head of Nordics, Carolina Faune, said that it was an honor receiving the award and a confirmation that the goals they’ve set are the right ones. “Our goal is to help the industry grow in a sustainable way. As a green technology company, we believe sustainability is both possible and profitable – not only when using the current medicine on the market, but also when using new ones," said Faune.
