A Time for People, Profits and Planet: Alltech Announces Dates for its 23rd Asia-Pacific Lecture Tour
People, profits and planet, the core determinants of a business’ success, will assume centre stage during Alltech’s 23rd Asia-Pacific Lecture tour from June 14-25, 2010. Beginning in Auckland, New Zealand, the Alltech tour will visit 13 stops in the Asia-Pacific region, including meetings in Australia, Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. The second leg of the 2010 Asia-Pacific Lecture Tour, taking place from October 1-5, 2010 will visit India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Alltech’s Vice President for Asia-Pacific, Steve Bourne explained, “In today’s world, profits are more critical than ever. Companies cannot forget, however, that their people and customers and the sustainability of the environment or planet in which they operate, have also become crucial to long-term survival. The ‘Triple Bottom Line: People, Profits, and Planet’ lecture series will focus on the basic solutions that are key to a company’s survival. Over 2,000 animal feed industry professionals joined us for our lecture tour last year and we look forward to meeting them again as we travel throughout Asia-Pacific in 2010.”
Speakers on Alltech’s Asia-Pacific Lecture Tour include: Dr. Alison Leary, Key Account Technical Services Manager, Alltech; Dr. Richard Murphy, Research Laboratory Manager, Alltech Ireland; Steve Bourne, Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Alltech; Dr. Juan Tricarico, Research Manager for Ruminant Nutrition, Alltech; and Dr. Alexandros Yiannikouris, Senior Research Scientist and Coordinator of Glycomics Research, Alltech. Together the speakers will share information on the latest innovative technology to help maximise performance and productivity.

Dr. Alison Leary, Key Account Technical Services Manager, Alltech
Dr. Alison Leary graduated from the University of New England in Australia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in the area of poultry nutrition. She furthered her studies, obtaining a PhD where she completed her thesis titled ‘Factors affecting egg and egg shell quality in various strains of the laying hen’. She also completed a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 2004. Dr. Leary has over 9 years’ experience in the animal feed industry, both in her home country of Australia and for the past five years in Asia. Dr. Leary is responsible for providing technical services to Alltech’s poultry clients throughout South East Asia.
Dr. Richard Murphy, Research Laboratory Manager, Alltech Ireland
Dr. Richard Murphy is Alltech’s global project leader for fungal strain development for the high level production of proteins using recombinant and non-recombinant techniques. He has played a key role in the establishment of the solid state fermentation facility in Serdan, Mexico. His current research activities include areas such as peptide bio-marker detection, molecular fingerprinting of microbial populations and nutrigenomics.
Steve Bourne, Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Alltech
Steve Bourne graduated from the University of Nottingham (1985) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Nutrition, focusing on nutrition and production. He subsequently obtained a Master of Philosophy Degree in 1996 from the University of Nottingham, studying “The Role of Enzymes in Nutrition”. After initial graduation, Mr. Bourne spent six years working as Company Nutritionist for Cranswick Mill Group PLC, responsible for diet formulation, research and technical support. Nutrition consultancy for pig breeding companies was undertaken in Asia and Europe. Steve Bourne joined Alltech in July 1990 to establish business in the Asia-Pacific Region, based in Thailand. In 1994, he returned to the UK and currently holds the position of Vice President of Alltech, with responsibilities for the Asia-Pacific Region and company development. He also chairs Alltech’s Reputation Overview Committee, responsible for management of Crisis Control and opportunity.
Dr. Juan Tricarico, Research Manager for Ruminant Nutrition, Alltech
Dr. Juan Tricarico graduated from C.A.E.C.E. University in Argentina in 1996 with a Degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Molecular Biology. In Argentina, he worked on human reproductive physiology and plant molecular biology before moving to the United States to pursue a PhD specialising in ruminal microbiology and rumen function at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Tricarico joined Alltech in 2000 and currently serves as Alltech’s Research Manager for Ruminant Nutrition. He has been responsible for establishing and managing the company’s ruminal physiology laboratory in Brookings, South Dakota, USA.
Dr. Alexandros Yiannikouris, Senior Research Scientist and Coordinator of Glycomics Research, Alltech
Dr. Alexandros Yiannikouris obtained a PhD in Biochemistry (2004) from the Blaise-Pascal University. He subsequently completed a post-doctoral commitment in analytical chemistry as an Alltech research scientist in the laboratories of the National Council of Scientific Research (CNRS), Pau, France studying the mineral chelating properties of peptides issued from non-GMO species of soybean using hyphenated techniques of mass spectrometry. He joined the Alltech Inc. Center for Animal Nutrigenomics and Applied Animal Nutrition scientific group in 2007. In his current role, Dr. Yiannikouris provides technical support for commercial and regulatory departments worldwide, and is responsible for the research and development activities of new lines of products, as well as the implementation of analytical approaches at Alltech Inc.
