After a long silence due to flooding the Asian Institute of technology (AIT) is hosting its next training  course: 'Production of Millions of High Quality Tilapia Fry and Grow-out' from March  5 - 17, 2012. 

Topics:

Lecture 1 - Introduction 

Lecture 2 - Reproduction and broodfish management 

Lecture 3 - Egg collection, Incubation and larval rearing 

Lecture 4 - Sex-reversal and nursing 

Lecture 5 - Conditioning, packing and transportation 

Lecture 6 - Grow-out culture (pond and cages) 

Lecture 7 - Hatchery design and layout 

Lecture 8 - Pond and water quality management 

Lecture 9 - Nutrition and feeding management 

Lecture 10 - Health management and Bio-security 

Lecture 11 - Production economics and marketing 

Lecture 12 - Post harvest and processing 

Lecture 13 - Cooking methods and presentations 

Lecture 14 - Certification and food safety 

Lecture 15 - Hatchery and farm business planning 

Each topic will be followed by 3-4 hr hands-on practice . 

Fee = US$1,500 

Accommodation = US$50 / day in hotel (or US$25 in hostel - depending on availability). 

Food = US$2-3 / meal
