Feed Manufacturing Subject of Two AFIA-KSU Educational Programs

First-Ever Distance-Learning Course Begins May 17
The benefits of e-learning have proven beneficial in many industries, and AFIA and K-State plan to try out the method in the feed industry with their first-ever online educational program this spring.
The first such course, “AFIA 501-Fundamentals of Feed Manufacturing,” was developed by the Feed Technology Group in K-State’s Department of Grain Science and Industry, and it will provide participants with in-depth understanding of feed manufacturing. Even employees with years of experience in the feed industry are likely to find this course valuable.
The course will be offered completely online, thereby saving company travel expenses and eliminating the challenges of being short-handed.
“AFIA 501 – Fundamentals of Feed Manufacturing” will begin May 17, 2010, and it will last a total of five weeks. Course participants may work at their own paces and engage in online discussions about the materials at any time during the week following the posting of lessons on Mondays.
The course will cost $499 for AFIA members and $685 for non-members. Course size is limited to 50 participants, so register early. To register, contact AFIA by visiting the events section on the AFIA Web site.

May 25-28 Short Course on K-State Campus
Subjects related to advanced feed manufacturing will be the focus of a May 25-28 interactive short course on the K-State campus in Manhattan, Kan.
The course, which is limited to 30 participants, targets individuals with feed industry experience and knowledge of the basic principles of feed manufacturing. The material is taught by K-State and industry experts. Click here for additional details such as hotel information.
The registration fee is $900. This fee includes a take-home copy of Feed Manufacturing Technology V, the latest edition of a hardcover textbook that countless feed industry professionals turn to over and over again. The fee also includes all handout materials, breakfasts, lunches, refreshments and one dinner.
