Aquafeed.com\'s first Aquaculture Feed Forum, Feeding for Profit was held at SPACE, the French livestock show, in Rennes, France. Aquaculture is the fastest growing animal production sector in recent years, which is why SPACE wants to enable exhibitors and visitors interested in this industry to meet and exchange ideas in conferences this one that gathered talks of high technical level.

Sustainability is one of the main challenges of the aquaculture industry, especially due to the fishmeal and fish oil dependency and this was one of the hot topics of the conference. Yann Marchand, R&D Formulation Manager at Le Gouessant presented an in-depth review of the fishmeal and fish oil trends in aquafeed and the latest research developed by the company testing new raw materials to substitute fishmeal and fish oil. This topic was also covered by Nadège Richard that presented promising results of yeast as an alternative protein source and as functional ingredient.

Plant extracts and new research tools and how they can support the development of new aquafeeds was also discussed by an audience of feed companies, ingredients suppliers and farmers. Saravanan Subramanian, Global Product Manager at Skretting, gave an interesting insight of the importance of feed in RAS systems.

Delegates expressed their appreciation for the high quality of the presentations at the sold-out meeting.
