The International Aquaculture Innovation Conference, InnAqua 2025, organized by the Chilean Aquaculture Innovation Club, will take place from September 2-4 in Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas, Los Lagos region. The event will host a select group of 25 prominent national and international speakers specializing in aquaculture and innovation. This edition will showcase the latest trends and developments for a more efficient and sustainable global aquaculture industry.
The central theme of the congress will be Innovation for Sustainable Aquaculture, an opportunity to analyze key content for the sector as it faces upcoming opportunities and challenges. "Trends and Sustainability in Aquaculture," "Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency," "Carbon Footprint Reduction and Decarbonization," "Circular Economy," and "Innovation and Shared Social Value" will be the topics that, over three days, will bring together the aquaculture innovation ecosystem of Latin America and Europe in southern Chile.
Adolfo Alvial, executive director of the Chilean Aquaculture Innovation Club and InnAqua coordinator, emphasizes that the conference has solidified its position as an essential meeting point for the sector, as it "manages to gather, in one place, all stakeholders interested in fostering collaborative innovation in aquaculture to advance towards sustainability."
"This year, we've successfully convened and engaged producing and supplying companies in the sector and their associations; public entities linked to innovation; as well as academia, the social sector, and prominent international organizations. It's practically a quintuple helix, where all participants are willing to dialogue and contribute, convinced that the challenges of aquaculture's future will demand more innovation and development than ever," he explains.
The success of the two previous editions, with high attendance and positive public feedback, bodes well for a great gathering in 2025. Interest in the conference has transcended the salmon and national aquaculture industries, attracting participation from nations like Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Mexico, as well as the United States and Canada.
