The organizers of the Sea Lice Conference 2025 have announced an extension of the deadline for abstract submissions until August 15. This global conference is focused on the research and management of Caligus rogercresseyi and Lepeophtheirus salmonis. The event will take place in Puerto Varas, Chile, from November 30 to December 4.

The organizing committee is currently working on finalizing the conference program, scientific sessions, and keynote presentations that will span the five-day event.

“Since the last edition of this international conference, held in 2022, we believe there will be many studies at various stages of development. That’s why we’ve decided to extend the submission deadline to ensure a broader range of research is represented. We’re also designing a new format for keynote talks with both local and international teams, aiming to offer a more global perspective on sea lice research and management,” said Professor Sandra Marín from the Institute of Aquaculture and Environment at the Austral University of Chile, Puerto Montt campus.

Cristian Gallardo-Escárate, Deputy Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Aquaculture Research (INCAR), said that the conference is a unique opportunity to strengthen international collaboration:

“This event allows us to share science-based solutions, reinforce public-private partnerships, and promote a more sustainable aquaculture industry.”

Registration is currently open and in the early bird phase, offering discounts to those who register before September 30. These discounts apply to all three participant categories: Researchers, Students, and SalmonChile Members.

“Early registration gives attendees full access to all sessions and events, regardless of their category. Students only need to attach a certificate of enrollment or equivalent to validate the early bird discount,” added Ximena Rojas from the Salmon Technological Institute (INTESAL).

The 2025 edition of the Sea Lice Conference is organized by INCAR, the Institute of Aquaculture at the Austral University of Chile, and INTESAL, and is sponsored by MSD Animal Health, Sudvet Corp, Aquabyte, Mowi Chile, and Aqua Pharma Group. The event will be held at the Hotel Enjoy in Puerto Varas.
