The Global Shrimp Forum returns next week and promises to be bigger and better than ever. The forum will be held at the Van der Valk Hotel in Utrecht, the Netherlands, September 5-7. The event has proved to be incredibly popular, with the majority of ticket packages sold out. A limited number of late-bird tickets are available to purchase here.

The 110-strong cohort of speakers featured includes industry leaders like Rajagopal Choudary Chitturi, chairman of Devi Fisheries, Adam Brennan, chief sustainability officer at Thai Union, and Gibran Huzaifah, founder and CEO of eFishery.

There is a line-up for the breakout sessions, which will feature industry leaders such as Carlos Miranda, general manager of Skretting Ecuador; Diego Xavier Illingworth Torres, CEO of the National Aquaculture Group from Saudi Arabia; and Japanese Shrimp Buyer Hidetami Haruta of Maruha Nichiro. Representatives from the Food Safety Authority of the EU and the National Fisheries Institute of the US will give a regulatory update.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss developments in technology and innovation in the shrimp industry, with a designated session chaired by ThinkAqua’s Anton Immik. The full program, including all confirmed speakers, and panelists, can be found here.

The Global Shrimp Forum Foundation (GSFF) has also funded a study about how to promote global shrimp consumption. The preliminary results of the study will be presented during the opening and inspiration plenary session and will be debated and discussed throughout the forum.

Willem van der Pijl, joint founder of the Global Shrimp Forum and speaker at this year’s Shrimp Trade Statistics seminar, said that “last year’s inaugural event was hugely successful, and marked the first truly global opportunity for people throughout the sector to come together and discuss key common issues. We are delighted that the event is returning next week with such an exciting and thought-provoking program. I very much look forward to speaking this year and meeting with delegates from across the globe.”

With almost 40 sponsors on board for this year’s event, and over 520 industry members registered to attend, the Second Annual Global Shrimp Forum is set to be a great success.
