The American Feed Industry Association has added two programs to its spring lineup. AFIA will host a hazard analysis and critical control points training April 11-12, 2017, and a FAMI-QS Awareness in Animal Feed course immediately following, April 13-14, in Des Moines, Iowa.
The HACCP Training for the Animal Food Industry, which runs 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.on both days, focuses on easy to understand steps to implement a HACCP system within the feed industry. The course trainers will use examples from industry to help participants apply learned information to animal feed or feed ingredient production. The course is broken into exercises and wraps with an exam on the covered material.
The HACCP training is accredited by the International HACCP Alliance.
The interactive, comprehensive FAMI-QS course runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on day one, and 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day two. The program covers the regulations of the FAMI-QS program in an easy-to-understand format in order to help attendees achieve certification. The FAMI-QS program is benchmarked against the European Commission feed regulations, which allows for exporters and importers to gain entry into new international markets with greater ease and success.
AFIA\'s International Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program--a third-party verified program for ingredient facilities--operates under the very same rules and scope as FAMI-QS. During the course trainers will cover topics including EU regulations and compliance, and feed safety management.
Both programs are currently running early-bird rates. The HACCP training is $550 for AFIA members, $650 for non-members. The FAMI-QS training is $425 for members, $525 for non-members. Both discounts expire March 1, 2017.
The programs are both held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Des Moines Airport. A room block is available at the same hotel at a group rate of $112 per night (plus tax). To reserve at the discounted rate, call the hotel directly at (515) 285-7777 and mention \"AFIA/Eurofins.\"
