Alicorp inaugurates Peru's first high Omega-3 fish oil plant

Alicorp has opened a production plant for high-content omega-3 fishoil in Piura, northern Peru.  The US$50 million facility has been built to meet market demand from the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, India and Australia.

Construction was begun on the plant, which is a partnership with Ocean Nutrition Canada (ONC), one of the world's largest producers of Omega-3,  in 2007.

Alicorp general manager Leslie Pierce said the plant directly employs 100 people and has an annual production capacity tof 24,000 tons of Omega-3 products and an additional 30,000 tonnes of purified oil that ONC will use for the manufacture of nutritional supplements.
