Aller Aqua's investment in Germany is taking shape

The construction of Aller Aqua’s pea protein factory in Germany and one of the most modernized fish feed factories in Europe is nearing completionproject is a jont-venture between Emsland Stärke GmbH (Germany) and Aller Aqua Technology(Denmark). The Aller Aqua unit, Aller Aqua Technology, the largest stockholder in the German company Emsland-Aller Aqua GmbH, has invested more than E25 million in the project, which will be completed during summer 2008.

The first part of the project, the pea protein factory, was finished in July 2007 and is now in its second season of produiction. The plant produces, a protein product containing more than 75% protein with an amino acid profile similar to the one of fishmeal and with a similar digestibility. The company projects it will process 36,000 tonnes of peas a year for the production of protein and starch. Currently only two manufactures of pea protein employ the special technique used:the product is therefore attracting a great deal of interest and high demand, especially from aquafeed manufacturers and producers of special feed for pigs, and other high protein products.

The second part of the project, the fish feed factory,  is currently under construction. The buildings, steel constructions etc. are made by German companies but the heart of the factory – the extruder, dryer and other key equipment - is supplied by the Danish company Andritz-Sprout.

When both factories are up and running 40-45 people will be employed.

Emsland-Aller Aqua GmbH also owns a small fish feed factory located in Beeskow, east of Berlin. The factory was bought by the company in 2006.

The new factories are located approximately 75 km south of Berlin.

From summer 2008, Aller Aqua Group will be producing fish feed in Denmark, Poland and Germany and will be among the biggest European producers of fish feed. Aller Aqua is increasing capacity due to strong growth in sales of fish feed in the last couple of years, which is expected to continue.

Late summer there will be an official opening of the factories with attendance of the Prime Minister of Brandenburg. We also expect the attendance of public officials from Denmark.
