Aquaculture could be loser in US Stimulus plan
Senators on both sides of the house have reached a compromise to get President Obama's Economic Stimulus Bill passed. Millions are reported to have been cut from the funding proposals and if CNN is correct, aquaculture could be a major loser. In a list the news service claims to have obtained froma Democratic leadership aide, proposed aquaculture funding of $50 million has been completely cut, as has $25 million for Fish and Wildlife. The report also lists $50 million cut for Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service (CREES), an agency responsible for much US aquaculture research.
