Bakkafrost declares fish feed does not contain whale meat

Bakkafrost recently released a statement of non-association with whaling, in which they declared that the Havsbrun fish feed they use does not contain whale meat. \"Havsbrun does not use pilot whale or any other marine mammals in the production of feed. Havsbrun feed does not contain any of the following ingredients: antibiotics, hormones, melamine, growth promoters, cantaxantin, salmon meal offal or waste from any other farmed species, and blood meal.\"

Bakkafrost recently released a statement of non-association with whaling, in which they declared that no whale meat is used in their fish feed.

Included with the statement is a letter from feed manufacturer Havsbrun stating \"Havsbrun does not use pilot whale or any other marine mammals in the production of feed. Havsbrun is a dedicated non-GMO feed mill and does not have risks of contamination from other production lines. 

\"Havsbrun feed does not contain any of the following ingredients: antibiotics, hormones, melamine, growth promoters, cantaxantin, salmon meal offal or waste from any other farmed species, and blood meal.\"

The following are excerpts from the Bakkafrost statement:

The Faroe Islands have large areas of unspoiled nature, and Bakkafrost has farming sites and activities all around the islands. It is our responsibility to ensure a sustainable production and to minimize any negative impact that we could have on the environment and the wild life. 

Bakkafrost hereby declares that none our fish farming activities are associated with whaling. No boats or other assets owned by Bakkafrost are utilized in whaling activities, and our employees are not allowed to participate in whaling activities during their work hours.

Bakkafrost hereby declares that no whale meat is used in our feed.
