Bakkafrost reports that new salmon meal and salmon oil plant will be operational this quarter

In its 2018 first quarter report, Bakkafrost confirmed that its new salmon meal and salmon oil plant is expected to start operation in the second quarter of 2018, with full production in the second half of the year. The plant is being operated under the company\'s Harvsbrún brand. The major market for Havsbrún´s fish feed is the local Faroese market including Bakkafrost’s internal use of fish feed.

In its 2018 first quarter report, Bakkafrost confirmed that its new salmon meal and salmon oil plant is expected to start operation in the second quarter of 2018, with full production in the second half of the year.

The plant is being operated under the company\'s Harvsbrún brand. The major market for Havsbrún´s fish feed is the local Faroese market including Bakkafrost’s internal use of fish feed.

Bakkafrost reported that overall profits and harvests are down for the first quarter of 2018, but Havsbrún is doing well and CEO Regin Jacobsen said the feed facility \"had good raw material sourcing again and had a strong performance.\"

According to the report, Havsbrún sourced 130.1 thousand tonnes of raw material in the first quarter of 2018. Havsbrún’s sales of fish feed in 2018 are expected to be at 85,000 tonnes, depending on external sales.
