The Oceanic Institute, Hawai'i, received the gift of a Bliss Eliminator Hammermill from Bliss Industries, Inc. of Ponca City, Oklahoma U.S. at the WAS Aquaculture 2004 exhibition in Honolulu this month.

The hammermill will be used in the Feeds Research Lab Pilot Production Facility to be constructed  on land belonging to the University of Hawai’i at Hilo in Panaewa, outside of Hilo, Hawai‘i. A first in the United States and in the Pacific Rim, the feeds research lab will enable research on aquaculture feed and terrestrial livestock feed production.

The 50 hp Bliss Eliminator Hammermill features internal wear plates, recessed reversible rotor, vortex cutter bar, one-piece plate housing, 3/8" plate doors, octagonal shaped housing, double drilled rotors and one-piece screen carriage for maximum grinding efficiency.

" We are very grateful to Bill Bliss and Bliss Industries for this very generous donation" Dr. Warren Dominy, Research Scientist Feeds Science & Technology at the Oceanic Institute told Aquafeed.com. "It is another step towards our feed mill that will be such a boost to aquaculture feed development for the industry". "Once it is up and running we will be able to develop aquatic and also terrestrial animal products through novel feed research that will expand markets for U.S. agricultural crops and help progress the aquafeed sector worldwide. The Bliss hammermill is a key equipment to this project".
