To support its growing aquaculture business, Cargill’s animal nutrition business has appointed Neil Wendover as global strategic marketing director for aquaculture.

Based in Singapore, Wendover, who joined Cargill Nov. 18, is responsible for helping to further refine the company’s global aquaculture marketing strategy and innovation and product portfolio. Wendover will round out a team of professionals focused on aquaculture technology application, research and development and strategic marketing.

Wendover brings to Cargill more than 12 years’ work experience in the aquaculture industry, including six years in Global technical marketing roles with Merck Animal Health and five years managing large commercial fish production operations in Asia and Africa. He specializes in tropical finfish production and disease management.

\"As a company dedicated to nourishing people, Cargill is committed to increasing food security around the world and we believe that aquaculture will play an important role in that,\" said Scott Ainslie, director of strategic marketing and technology, Cargill Animal Nutrition. \"Cargill has more than 25 years’ experience in aquaculture nutrition and management solutions and Neil will be part of a team that helps design the future of the business. We see aquaculture as a pathway to meeting the world demand for protein in diets and look forward to bringing new ideas and products to the industry.\"

Aquaculture represents a significant growth opportunity for Cargill’s animal nutrition business, which has a unique skill set to apply to aquaculture as a result of synergies with other Cargill businesses, its global presence, and the company’s world-class research capabilities.

In July of this year, Cargill Animal Nutrition acquired Siamakme Aquatic Feeds Co., Ltd., a Thailand-based shrimp feed manufacturer. The acquisition strengthens Cargill’s presence in Asia and provides a platform for further expansion in the market.
