A Hi-Tech Trout Feed Mill, first of its kind in the country, has come up at a cost of Rs 11.40 crore at Manasbal in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal.

Officials said that High Tech Trout Feed Mill Manasbal, constructed in the premises of National Fish Seed Farm, Manasbal, has been completed by expending Rs 11.40 crore. They said that it is the first High Tech Trout Feed Mill in Valley established with modern technology where quality feed for the trout fishes to be produced.

“Over 41.03 lakh seeds of different varieties of Carp fish were distributed during 2016-2017,” they added.

Meanwhile, Minister for Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Abdul Gani Kohli has asked the officers of fisheries department for organizing awareness camps to sensitize the general masses about the Centrally Sponsored Schemes meant for adopting fish culture.

He said that the area has huge potential for rearing fish and people particularly youth have to come forward to avail the benefits of Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
