Kampachi Farms are stocking a feed trial with Nenue, a Hawaiian herbivorous reef fish, to test their growth on a formulated diet without fishmeal or fish oil. The farm is also exploring the use of Nenue gut microbiome in seaweed biodigesters.

These trials are developed under KRUMBS – Kyphosid Ruminant Microbial Bioconversion of Seaweeds project that aimes to provide highly efficient process for converting marine macroalgae seaweed into a variety of bioproducts including biofuels. The team will work with its partners to isolate, optimize and deploy microbial consortia and individual microorganisms capable of rapidly digesting macroalgal biomass in a highly scalable way.

Kampachi Farms is a Hawaii-based mariculture company focused on expanding the environmentally sound production of the ocean\'s finest fish. Through innovative research and application of the best available science, Kampachi Farms remain on the cutting edge of healthy, environmentally responsible seafood.
