The Peruvian Production Minister, Rocío Barrios, announced that the first anchovy’s 2019 fishing season (Engraulis ringens and Anchoa nasus) will start in May 4 in the north-central zone of the Peruvian coast.
The assigned quota is 2.1 million tons according to the IMARPE recommendations. The IMARPE research cruise determine that the north-central anchovy stock increased up to 7 million tons at the beginning of April with high juvenile presence.
The Minister also announced that new fishing rights will be applied in the second anchovy season.
