The Peruvian Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) announced that the second anchovy fishing season will start on November 12. The authorization covers fishing in the north-central area of the country and will be extended until reaching the maximum total allowable catch quota of 2.78 million tons of anchovy.
The resolution also prohibits the extraction and processing of anchovy specimens with sizes smaller than those provided for in the current regulations, allowing a maximum tolerance of 10% in the number of specimens. When juvenile specimens of anchovy are extracted in percentages greater than 10% of the daily landings from a certain port, fishing activities will be suspended for a minimum period of three consecutive days.
