The United Kingdom Food Standards Agency (FSA) Board Meeting, which took place June 11,2014, heard that since legislation that permits the feeding of pig and poultry Processed Animal Protein (PAP) to farmed fish came into force on June 1, 2013 no feed manufacturers in the UK has applied for approval to take advantage of this EU derogation. 

The feed industry has expressed  support for this measure but is unlikely to utilize it because most pig and poultry PAP produced in the UK is used in pet food, and for commercial reasons that is expected to remain the case. 

However, if anyone wants to avail themselves of this derogation, all arrangements are in place for them to do so, providing they can demonstrate to the satisfaction of FSA that they can satisfy the EU’s key requirements.
