Based on its recent analysis of the aquaculture feed market, Frost & Sullivan recognised Ocean Harvest Technology Ltd. (OHT) with the 2012 Europe Frost & Sullivan Award for Entrepreneurial Company of the Year.

OHT has positioned itself as a provider of cost-effective, eco-friendly, sustainable and natural feed products.  It successfully tackles the key issues facing the industry: rising prices, sustainability, safety, and quality.

OHT has developed, tested and patented its feeding ingredients for the salmon, shrimp and pig markets and is now rapidly growing sales in these markets. With production facilities in Ireland, Canada and Vietnam and offices in North America, Asia and Australia, OHT has built a very strong global focus.

In addition, it has developed other products for the abalone and sea urchin markets and for the equine, cattle and domestic pet markets and its research platform has the potential for much broader application.

\"Companies like OHT understand and effectively anticipate customer needs by developing innovative feed solutions,\" noted Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Anjaneya Reddy . \"The company draws on decades of R&D experience to produce leading-edge products for the salmon, pig, shrimp and pet feed industries.\"

The company\'s OceanFeed products deliver unique benefits to food producers. They promote healthy, economical growth and replace or eliminate synthetic additives from animal feed allowing food producers to achieve significantly improved yields as well as taste, flavour and texture, whilst complying with organic standards and ever-stricter regulatory restrictions.

OHT was a pioneer in developing natural and sustainable feed products for the aquaculture industry, helping customers replace synthetic chemical additives and colourants used in fish feed through its OceanFeedTM.  It is all natural, developed from sustainable resources such as seaweed and algae and offers optimal nutrition.

\"The company\'s offering for the salmon fish feed segment improves the fish farm environment as it has all bioactive components which improve the immunity of the fish, improves growth and combats sealice infections\". \"OceanFeedTM enables salmon to be reared naturally and is extremely cost effective compared to other feed equivalents.\"

A recent breakthrough by the company in pig farming using Oceanfeed-pig has demonstrated a 50% reduction in antibiotic use and a replacement of paylean while maintaining growth and FCE and a lower mortality rate.

Similarly in shrimp farming OHT has now demonstrated to have developed an effective product against white spot viral disease based on seaweed technology. White spot is a viral disease that kills 80-100% of the shrimp harvest and is damaging the shrimp cultivation industry in Asia at a large scale.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in growth strategy and growth implementation. The company is also lauded for the degree of innovation with its products and technologies, its leadership in customer value and the speed of its response to market needs.
