Effect of a functional feed additive on productivity in Ecuadorian shrimp farming: a pilot scale demonstration

Maintaining a stable and favorable gut microflora is of crucial importance to minimize the impact of disease events and to optimize digestive efficiency in shrimp, resulting in improved survival and productivity. Here we discuss the potential of phytobiotic feed additives with multiple mode of actions on the gut microflora as a new area for improving cost efficiency of shrimp farming under semi-intensive conditions in Ecuador.
