TheEuropean Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has approved a genetically modified maize from Syngenta and a soybean from Monsanto for the placing on the market for food and feed uses, import and processing.

The EFSA GMO Panel considers that information available for  insect-resistant genetically modified maize MIR162 from Syngenta and herbicide tolerant genetically modified soybean 40-3-2 from Monsanto are as safe as their conventional counterparts and non-GM commercial varieties with respect to potential effects on human and animal health and the environment in the context of its intended uses
