Brabender introduces inline viscosity measurement and process control
March 18, 2021

Brabender GmbH & Co. KG introduced the Convimeter II for viscosity measurement and process control in production for the development of liquids and pastes. The Convimeter II opens the door for many measurement methods previously reserved for offline rheology to enter production environments. This supports the development of manufacturing processes and enables large-volume testing on a production scale.

Highlights include the wide range of applications, characterized by a measuring range of 30-2,000,000 mPas for Newtonian and non-Newtonian liquids, and the adjustable shear rate. Results are clearly displayed on the integrated touch display or across platforms.

Inline measurements in production are possible both within a control station system and in stand-alone operation thanks to appropriate interfaces. The viscosity can be continuously monitored using the history display, which shows the measured values of the last 20 minutes as a graph.

The use for large-volume tests and the development of formulations is made possible by the high accuracy and special measuring programs such as the characterization function, which can be used to create viscosity profiles. The measurement protocols are stored digitally and are available for use in the network. Access to the functions can be customized on a rights-based basis via the user account control.

The Convimeter II is now available worldwide through the distribution network for all common operating voltages. Further information is available here
