Alltech Announces New Appointments for Europe

Alltech has announced the appointment of Dr. Colm Moran to the position of Director of EU Regulatory Affairs. In his new role, Dr. Moran will be responsible for all regulatory matters in the European Union. Here, a key focus will be the coordination of dossier development.

Dr. Moran graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology (1995) from the University of Wales, where he specialised in yeast biochemistry. Following this, he obtained an MSc in Food Biotechnology (1996) from the University of Strathclyde Glasgow and a Ph.D. in Feed Biotechnology (2001) from the University of Plymouth.

Dr. Colm Moran began working with Alltech in 1996 as the company co-sponsored his doctorate degree, and in March 2001 he was appointed Coordinator of Microbials Research at Alltech’s headquarters in Kentucky, USA. Following this Dr. Moran held the positions of Coordinator of Yeast Glycomics Research and, most recently, Global Bio-Mos® Product Champion.

Working out of Alltech’s Paris office, Dr. Moran will lead a team of dossier registration specialists.

Alltech has also announced the appointment of Jomi Bernad as general manager of its new office in Barcelona, Spain and Cathal McCormack as national sales manager for Ireland.

For the last eight years, Jomi Bernad has held the position of sales manager at Probasa, the former distributor of Alltech products to the Spanish market. Prior to this he worked for a swine genetics company and a ruminant premix company.

Mr. Bernad graduated from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 1996 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. As general manager, Mr. Bernad’s main focus will be on strengthening the Alltech brand within Spain as well as increasing the presence of the company’s products on the Spanish market.

Cathal McCormack joined Alltech three years ago as regional sales manager for Connaught. Prior to this, he held the position of Training & Development Officer with the young farmer organisation, Macra na Feirme. He is the 3rd generation involved in the family business of Steil Angus Pedigree cattle and holds a Bachelors of Agribusiness and Marketing Degree from the Galway–Mayo Institute of Technology.
In his new role, Mr. McCormack will manage a team of five sales people. His primary focus will be on helping customers to improve their overall profitability as well as creating new sales opportunities.
