With nearly 20 years of experience at CJ Selecta, Alessandro Reis is the new CEO of CJ Selecta. Reis has risen through the ranks in CJ Selecta’s sales and logistics departments before being appointed COO in 2019. He now takes over a company with nearly 600 employees.

Reis' professional career began as a trainee at Cargill, before starting at CJ Selecta. “His path across two major companies in the sector symbolizes the value of a career built on discipline, commitment, and integrity. It serves as an inspiring example, especially for younger professionals, of how growth and leadership are earned over time through dedication and purpose,” the company said in a press release.

“In CJ Selecta, we are committed to achieving strong financial results while adhering to the strictest standards for ethical and sustainable business conduct. We believe in the power of collaboration. No department or individual stands above the company as a whole. Every contribution is vital within our inclusive environment, and this also includes feedback from our customers and our soy farmers, with whom we have a long-lasting and mutually fruitful relationship,” said Alessandro Reis, CJ Selecta’s newly appointed CEO.

“Furthermore, our vision embraces a strong culture of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, shaping all our products and services. Together, we will establish a communication department that collaborates seamlessly with our commercial areas, ensuring consistency and coherence in all our initiatives, both in Brazil and on the international stage,” Reis added.

CJ Selecta is a Brazilian producer of deforestation-free and GMO-free soy concentrate, which is used in feed for Norwegian salmon production. The company is a pioneer in sustainable soy and a major supplier to the Norwegian aquaculture industry. In addition to producing sustainable soy, CJ Selecta has been leading the documentation of its value chain as sustainable and responsible. This is becoming increasingly important as both customers and authorities demand transparency.

Reis is well acquainted with Norwegian aquaculture and the increasing sustainability requirements from the aquaculture sector.

“Throughout my time at CJ Selecta, we have been advocating for sustainable practices. We will continue this in the future,” said Reis. “CJ Selecta is believed to be the only producer of soy protein concentrate (SPC) that produces and presents such detailed information about its carbon footprint. We have also supplied guaranteed deforestation-free soy for several years and have recently heavily invested in regenerative agriculture. This is an area where we see a lot of potential.”

In addition to his executive experience, Alessandro is a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (ABIOVE) and served for more than a decade as a member of the Brazilian Association of Grain Exporters (ANEC), actively contributing to the development and strengthening of the agribusiness sector both in Brazil and abroad.

He is recognized for his strategic business vision, his ability to build and lead high-performance teams, and his leadership style, which is guided by three core values he considers timeless assets: knowledge, reputation, and trust.

“More than assuming a position, Alessandro embraces the responsibility of Leading CJ Selecta into a new cycle of growth, innovation, sustainability, and people development—further strengthening our global presence, expanding our positive impact, and honoring the legacy of over 70 years of history,” the company said.
