Practical realities associated with micro pellet production will be the topic of a talk by Dana Nelson, formerly an owner of Nelson & Son's, Inc. (SilverCup USA), at Aquafeed Horizons conference, taking place in Cologne, Germany June 12.
Now an aquafeed specialist at Extru-Tech, Inc., Nelson will draw on 25 years of experience in real commercial production to provide practical guidance on the use of extrusion equipment to produce fine aquatic feeds. Specific details and experiences will be presented, with an emphasis on the critical issues related to this topic.
Feed manufactures have always been required to produce feeds smaller than 1.5 mm for aquaculture customers. Globally, most of these feeds are crumbled pellets, due to the difficulties associated with compressing or forming rations through small holes. Although these feeds have served aquaculture well and will continue to do so, the demand for and production advantages of “micro pellets” continue to increase. Micro pellet production efficiency gains and improved control over attributes, such as the density, texture, and other physical characteristics of the feed, will provide much-needed value and improved performance to aquaculture growers in the future.
Nelson joins a line up of 16 international aquafeed production and nutrition experts at the 12th Aquafeed Horizons conference, Aquafeed.com’s flagship technical conference for aquafeed professionals world wide. It will take place June 12, 2019, at the Cologne Exhibition Halls, (Koelnmesse), Cologne, Germany, alongside the Victam International trade show.
