Due to the extraordinary circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Swiss Institute of Feed Technology is offering a training course based on a virtual classroom concept. The program will consist of the following topics:

  • Feed milling industry: trends and developments, production worldwide, raw materials.
  • Diagram technology: structure of a compound feed plant, basic flow sheets, batch mixing plant.
  • Core processes: basics in sections like size reduction, mixing, liquid addition, conditioning, hygienizing, pelleting and cooling.
  • In all sections: practical introduction into the working principle of machines and elements.
  • Visit of a feed mill.

The program will be conducted over five days in one week. During this week the theory related to feed milling core processes will be taught. Additionally, a two-day hands-on workshop will be offered later this year at the training center in Uzwil, Switzerland in order to provide the corresponding practical knowledge.

Each day four lessons will be held. Everyday questions will be provided to the participants so that an individual content reflection can take place. At the end of the course, a test will be sent out. In order to overcome potential time differences between the participants, the course will be held on a time schedule that suits all enrolled participants.
