A three days Practical Short Course on Extruded Pet Foods and Treats will be presented from July 9-12, 2018 at Texas A&M University by staff, industry representatives, and consultants.

Bioaquafarm will hold a Commercial Aquaponics course on July 21-22, and again on September 29-30, 2018 at their facility in Blackford, U.K. The course will explain how aquaponics works on a commercial scale, from custom system design to establishing a successful aquaponics business.

The 2nd edition of Aquaculture Taiwan Expo & Forum will take place at the Taipei World Trade Center from July 26-28. The Marine Stewardship Council\'s Seafood Futures Forum is set to take place during the Seafood Expo Global, April 24-26 in Brussels. Through the lens of UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14), this year’s Seafood Futures Forum will focus on how to balance the need to live within our oceans’ ecological limits, while ensuring seafood supplies are safeguarded for this and future generations.

Over 2,000 people from 61 countries attended the Aquaculture America 2018 conference last month. The conference featured 624 speakers and 108 poster presentations. The meeting’s theme was ‘Shaping the Future – Telling Our Story’, with an emphasis on addressing consumer perceptions and concerns about aquaculture. Next year’s meeting, Aquaculture 2019, will be in New Orleans, Louisiana from March 6 – 10.

Biomin has announced the details regarding the 8th edition of the biennial World Nutrition Forum. The theme of the 2018 premier animal nutrition event hosted by Biomin will be S.C.O.P.E. which signifies 'Scientific Challenges and Opportunities in the Protein Economy.' In addition to species-specific breakout sessions, an expert session on gut health and performance will zoom in on antibiotic resistance and the role of novel feed additives as alternatives to antibiotic usage in farm animals. Another session will feature a top-class mycotoxin expert session addressing key research findings and leading-edge technologies in the fields of mycotoxin prediction and deactivation.

The DIVERSIFY project will host a dedicated pikeperch workshop on June 27th 2018 in Nancy, France. The workshop is free to attend and open to all farmers and colleagues with professional interest in the aquaculture of pikeperch. The pikeperch is one of the six species selected for the European project DIVERSIFY, a five-year project for the diversification of the European aquaculture using new/emerging finfish species.

The 6th Global Feed & Food Congress 2019: 'The future of Feed & Food - are we ready?' will be held for the first time in the ASEAN region. The Congress will bring together leaders from the global feed and food chain in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 11-13, 2019. The theme links to the global challenge to provide safe, affordable, nutritious and sustainable animal protein sources through innovative solutions to feed 9 billion people by 2050.

One of the plenary speakers at Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2018 is Dr. Patrick Sorgeloos, Aquaculture Expert from Belgium, who will give a presentation on “New insights in microbial management to make intensive aquaculture more sustainable” which is linked to the theme of APA18: \"Aquaculture innovation, sustainability and food safety.” APA18 will take place at the Taipei International Convention Center from April 23-26.

The FDA will hold a webinar to discuss the draft guidance, “Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals,” which became available for public comment last month. The webinar will be held on March 6, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (EST).

TARS 2018, scheduled to be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from August 15-16, will focus on shrimp aquaculture in Asia. Among the topics to be addressed are the current state of Asia’s shrimp aquaculture industry, new approaches for improving shrimp production, higher level of control, productivity, and cost efficiency.

ONE: The Alltech Ideas Conference (ONE18), scheduled to be held May 20–22 in Lexington, Kentucky, will provide aqua producers with a unique opportunity to participate in a global conversation about the innovations, challenges and solutions facing the feed industry. Breakout sessions will focus fishmeal-free feeds, offshore and onshore salmon farms, fillet quality, and feeding genetic potential / nutrigenomics.

Former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, will be keynote speaker at AquaVision 2018 in Stavanger, Norway. Mr. Ban will directly address the food security challenges of the coming decades at conference, scheduled to take place June 11-13.

A Call for Abstracts has been released for the Percid Fish session at AQUA 2018, to be held August 25-29 in Montpellier, France. The general scope of the Percid Fish session is to open the discussion on the aquaculture of percid fish which, although quite varied, can presently be condensed into a few problematic areas, identified by stakeholders as curtailing expansion. The session will include four sub-themes, covering the most important fields and challenges facing the expansion of percid aquaculture. Abstracts are due April 10.
