A Proteomics workshop will provide early career researchers with theoretical and practical know-how on proteomic analytical workflows and data analysis. The workshop aims to teach and exchange knowledge about different applications of proteomics for aquaculture species. Issues relating to sample preparation, processing, data collection and analysis will be discussed with hands-on experience of 2D-PAGE and MALDI-TOF MS.
Topics will include:
- Proteomic applications in aquaculture.
- Analytical workflows available to study the proteome.
- Advance techniques in Mass Spectrometry (MS) for the analysis of the proteome.
- Use of MALDI-TOF MS for the analysis of bacteria.
- Quantification strategies.
- Impact of experimental factors on 2D gel analysis.
- Data analysis and bioinformatics tools.
The workshop will be held at the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling, UK from November 5 - 6. Training will be given by biologists and mass spectrometrists from the Institute of Aquaculture, University Highlands and Islands, University of Aberdeen and Moredun Research Institute.
There are eighteen funded spaces available (PhD to 10 years post-PhD). Expenses include accommodations on November 5 at the Stirling Court Hotel, coffee and lunch on both days, optional dinner on November 5, and maximum of £200 travel support.
