The Workshop provides participants with practical information on aquafeed production technology with special reference to extrusion processes. Specialists with extensive expertise have been invited to share their knowledge and experience in extruded feed production.

Aquafeed Extrusion Workshop set for May 5, 2006 at Adelaide University, South Australia

 

 

This program is presented by the SARDI Aquaculture Nutrition and Feed Technology Subprogram, the Aquafin CRC and FRDC in association with FoodStream Pty Ltd.

 

This Workshop provides participants with practical information on aquafeed production technology with special reference to extrusion processes. Specialists with extensive expertise have been invited to share their knowledge and experience in extruded feed production. The Workshop program provides an opportunity for those experienced in extrusion technology, to gain updated information on aquafeed extrusion processes, and interact with experts. It can also serve as a very useful reference for those who are new to aquafeed nutrition and extruded feed production.

 

When: Friday 5 May 2006.

 

Where: Roseworthy Campus of Adelaide University at Gawler in South Australia, utilising the Australian Experimental Stockfeed Extrusion Centre (AESEC). Travel time between the Campus and Adelaide airport is about 1 hour & 15 minutes.

 

Registration Fee: Au$550 + GST

 

A discount of 10% will apply for registrations fully paid by 31 March, or for three or more participants from the one company. To ensure a place please register by 18 April.

 

The registration fee includes handout notes directly related to the presentations, lunch, and morning and afternoon tea.

Speakers

 

Leong Wee is the Aquaculture Subprogram Leader in Nutrition and Feed Technology, SARDI Aquatic Sciences. He has more than 20 years of experience as lecturer and researcher in aqua nutrition and in aquafeed manufacturing and feed additive industry in Asia and Australia.

 

Chris Carter is Professor and Head of School of Aquaculture at the University of Tasmania. His research interests includes the development of ingredients for aquafeeds, especially the replacement of fishmeal and fish oil; determining nutrient requirements and describing the growth of aquatic animals in relation to protein turnover and bioenergetics

 

Meegan Vandepeer is a Consultant Research Scientist (Nutrition) with Barneveld Nutrition Pty Ltd. She has extensive experience in the research and development of aquafeeds, with special reference to abalone diets. Prior to joining Barneveld Nutrition she was Senior Research Scientist with SARDI Aquatic Sciences, for 9 years working on aquaculture nutrition projects.

 

Galen Rokey is the Technical and Process Manager of Wenger Manufacturing Inc. He is a world-renowned expert on extrusion processes, in particular, aquafeed extrusion, and has extensive experience in commissioning of extruders world wide.

 

Dennis Forte is a Consultant with Dennis Forte and Associates Pty Ltd. He has extensive experience in the field of extrusion in food processing, pet foods and animal feeds, and has consulted widely in Australia and Overseas.
