A Port Stephens aquaculture project has received a $3 million share from the federal government’s Rural R&D for Profit Initiative.

The NSW Department of Primary Industries’ Port Stephens Fisheries Institute will work with a new commercial aquaculture business in the area.

Paterson MP Bob Baldwin welcomed the grant, which was one of 12 successful projects in this round worth $26.7 million.

“This will drive immediate production gains for Yellowtail Kingfish aquaculture, and open the way to further white fish aquaculture production,” Mr Baldwin said.
