Dutch companies partner with Vietnam to improve shrimp farming sustainability

Vietnam and a collective of Dutch companies that includes Nutreco, have joined a three-year project to improve the quality of Vietnamese shrimp aquaculture.

Vietnam and a collective of Dutch companies have joined a three-year project to improve the quality of Vietnamese shrimp aquaculture. The project was requested by the Dutch embassy and the companies involved are Nutreco, Topsy Baits, Shrimpvet, TipTopp Aquaculture and Sustainable Aquaculture Solutions. Larive International and Openasia will act as project overseers and liaison between the parties involved as well as the Dutch government.

Vietnamese shrimp farming has grown in the past few years but faces disease and antibiotics challenges. The country is producing at lower quality and does not meet the required environmental criteria. This project will focus on the development of the value chain transferring expertise and training programs.
