Mr. Didier Jans, Secretary General of FAMI-QS Asbl and Mr. Li Yansong, Director of HSL Certification Service, have signed an agreement for the setting up of open authorization training sessions on feed safety awareness in China.
Through this agreement, HSL Certification Service has been granted the exclusive right to provide the “FAMI-QS: Awareness in Feed Safety” training program in P.R. China. Preparatory work for conducting the program is now well under way.
The scope of the “FAMI-QS: Awareness in Feed Safety” program is to provide participants with necessary information for the FAMI-QS certification process, requirements of the FAMI-QS code and interpretation of the code, feed safety and EU feed legislation. Through this program FAMI-QS will contribute to spreading best hygiene practices in the industry for special ingredients worldwide. Training is provided on a voluntary basis.
In China, the concept of “Feed is the Food” is becoming popular. More and more people and Chinese companies are concerned about feed quality and safety. Awareness of quality management among feed operators in China is currently increasing too. Feed and feed additive products from China are being developed and exported faster and faster, and there is great expectation that local operators will improve their safety level.
The close cooperation between FAMI-QS Asbl and HSL Certification Service aims to promote better support for domestic feed and feed additive operators as well as to boost quality and safety management in the Chinese feed industry.
The “FAMI-QS: Awareness in Feed Safety” training program not only runs in China. It has recently been run in Brazil where FAMI-QS' partner carried out four training sessions to meet the demand by local companies. These sessions were highly appreciated by players and leaders of the Brazilian feed industry. As operators show strong interest in the FAMI-QS program, they draw great benefits from the training and gain insight into quality and safety management.
Based on the technical field experience of privileged partners, FAMI-QS will continue with a training framework set to guarantee the consistency of information delivered in different countries. This helps standardize the production process and increase product quality control and the safety system internationally.
FAMI-QS Asbl is the management and co-ordination center for the FAMI-QS code of practice. It is the only certifiable code specifically aimed at specialty feed ingredients and their mixtures for animal nutrition. The code addresses safety, quality and regulatory compliance in order to minimize the risk that unsafe specialty feed ingredients enter the food and feed chain. It offers independent certification for all operators placing these products on the market. Based on partnership with international certification bodies and third countries institutional partners, it includes more than 600 certified sites spread across more than 45 countries. The current FAMI-QS President is Dr. Dieter Greissinger of Evonik Industries AG.
