PY Maju Trading Ltd will invest approximately US$60,000 in an aquafeed plant to stabilize feed prices.
The farm, which has 100 ponds cover 30 acres (12 ha.) can produce seven tonnes of catfish a month. Manager Zakaria Harun told local press the factory, which has been long postponed due to lack of capital, will have a daily production capacity of two tonnes, which will supply his ponds and other local catfish farmers.
Currently the farm relies on Artocarpus champeden, a fruit related to jackfruit, which are grown as shade and feed for the ponds but Harun acknowledged that better feeding practices would optimize production.
