Hatch, Louis Dreyfus Company and AquaSol have opened calls to match both strategic and financial investors with select investment opportunities throughout the aquaculture space.

The aquaculture accelerator program

Hatch, a venture capital platform to fuel innovation in the global aquaculture industry, extended the application deadline to June 26, 2020. Hatch is looking for seed or pre-seed startups with innovative and scalable solutions for relevant aquaculture problems as well as alternative seafood/protein. The program requirements include at least a team of two willing to focus 100% on the venture and having an initial proof-of-concept.

Louis Dreyfus Company corporate venture capital program

Louis Dreyfus Company B.V. (LDC) launched its corporate venture capital program, LDC Innovations, as an essential element in LDC’s strategic plans to reinforce its position as a key-value chain participant.

“This program is another positive step in our strategic growth plans, as part of which we are investing in innovations and technologies that can help meet increasing global demand for healthy, nutritious products that are responsibly sourced and produced,” said Ian McIntosh, LDC’s chief executive officer.

“Over the coming months, we will invest in early-stage companies with the potential to transform the food and agriculture industries. Most importantly, we will support businesses that share our vision for a safe and sustainable future through transparent supply chains, responsible sourcing and long-term value creation.”

LDC has appointed Max Clegg to manage the program as head of LDC Innovations, as part of LDC’s Innovations and Downstream team, to be led by Thomas Couteaudier in addition to his existing responsibilities as head of South & Southeast Asia region.

“Max brings significant experience to the program, and will play a key role in building long term, productive relationships with companies in the LDC Innovations portfolio,” said Thomas Couteaudier.

AquaSol, Inc., a U.S.-based aquaculture consulting company, launched Project Matchmaker that will actively work to match both strategic and financial investors with select investment opportunities throughout the aquaculture space. AquaSol intends to lead the initiative matching the unique investment criteria of pre-qualified buyers with a curated selection of high-quality good-fit aquaculture investment opportunities.
