The Peruvian Ministry of Production (Produce) authorized the start of the first anchovy fishing season on March 10, 2021. The catch limit will be 409,000 tons and fishing activities may not exceed June 30.
The decision was based on two research reports carried out by the Institute of the Sea of Peru (Imarpe) that recommend starting extractive activity and maintain strict control over the incidence of juvenile specimens.
